The Melbourne University Indian Club (MUIC) wants everyone to be able to use this website, regardless of ability or the technology they use. We aim to meet the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we've done
- Semantic, structured HTML with a clear heading hierarchy
- Visible keyboard focus and full keyboard navigation for interactive elements
- Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images
- Colour contrast chosen for readability against our dark theme
- Support for reduced-motion preferences — animations are minimised when you ask your device to reduce motion
- A responsive layout that adapts to phones, tablets and desktops
Ongoing effort
Accessibility is something we keep working on. Some content — particularly event photography and embedded third-party content — may not yet be fully optimised, and we welcome feedback that helps us improve.
